TMC Toronto Chapter Launch

Long-awaited and warmly welcomed by Toronto, despite all odds, the TMC Toronto Chapter launch event debuted on May 21st at Toronto Metropolitan University Student Center.

The day was unexpectedly not warm enough to support the commute for the Toronto folks. Still, the energy of the tech-centric, vibrant Toronto community was above and beyond any odds. The venue was packed on time. The engagement and enthusiasm of attendees electrified the vibe.
The TMC Toronto Chapter leadership team welcomed the attendees, and the moderator of the event, Prabhav, began the first dialogue with the attendees, which was followed by a welcome note briefing by Jamil Ahmed (Chapter leader).

With no further due, the first presenter, Rabia Bajwa, was invited. She is a prominent industry leader in the cybersecurity space. She presented her talk, “Introduction to Threat Modeling: From Awareness to Action”. The second talk was given by Emmanuel Guilherme, who is an AI Security Researcher at OWASP GenAI Security Project as well as a leading Security consultant. His topic was “AI-driven Threat Modeling: Leveraging GPT Models and Generative AI”.
Both talks were followed by Q/A session that was well received by the audience. Their comments and questions made their engagement pretty obvious.

Then the event entered its final stage of a Quiz. The Quiz questions were all taken from the contents of the talks. Prabhav very well continued to moderate the Quiz session, and the winner was finally announced.
Iruiskrisk sponsored a gift for the winner of the Quiz.

This was followed up with the networking & refreshment session. The TMC community of Toronto had no longer a dream. It has been established. The engagement of the attendees with the TMC Toronto chapter leadership was obvious, and the open discussion and sharing of ideas were full of energy. The event concluded with everyone looking forward to staying connected and attending the next event in June at the University of Guelph.
